This bookcase was made for Carlton House London, the home of the Prince Regent, by the firm of William Marsh and Thomas Tatham. It is in a classical design using burr yew veneer, mahogany and pine, inlaid with ebony. It has a marble top, bronze busts and gilt bronze mounts. The silk panels are replacements.
