In the early 19th century the massive Norman or Romanesque style was less popular than the Gothic, possibly because it was less easy to adapt to living conditions of the time. This wardrobe takes the form of a Norman doorway and was made for the Norman styles Gosford Castle in County Armagh. It is of carved oak and was probably designed by Thomas Hopper.
