In 1939 a radio station was built under the water tower at the top of the Mansion. It was known as Station X and maintained contact with British embassies in Europe.

Winston Churchill often stayed at Bletchley Park and is said to have ordered the creation of tennis courts as some of the staff were playing baseball.
