Broom is a spineless shrub with long hairless 5-angled green stems. The golden yellow flowers are 20mm long on stalks of up to 10mm. The seed pods are black and hairy. It grows on acid soils and flowers May to June. Picture taken May 9th 2008 at Maulden, Bedfordshire.
