Meadow foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis)

This plant flowers April to June on water-meadows, low lying grasslands and waysides. Each spikelet has a single floret, with three stamens, one ovary with two stigmas. The spikelets are not bristle tipped although the floret is. Picture taken 19th May 2008 at Maulden, Bedfordshire.
