In spring queen wasps, who have hibernated over winter, begin to build a new nest. Queen wasps are the only wasp that survives winter, all worker wasps die during this time. Wasp nests are built out of chewed wood and wasp saliva. By Autumn the nest will have grown much larger with up to 10,000 wasps using one nest.
