Sir John Betjeman was born in 1906 and died in 1984. He was famous as a poet, journalist and broadcaster. He became Poet Laureate in 1972. He had a great love of Victorian architecture and fought to save the entrance to St Pancras station in London. This sculpture now stands inside the station.
