In legend yarrow was used by Achilles to cure wounds made by metal and continued to be used to dress wounds. In the past it was also used to drive away evil and sickness and to prevent people being hurt in love. It is a very common plant of roadsides and hedges. It has numerous feathery leaves and white clustered flowers. Picture taken 27th July 2008 at Hinxworth, Hertfordshire.
