Garlic was used to treat all number of ailments and as a ward against evil. The chopped and cooked leaves have been used to flavour dishes and sauces but the plant is felt to be inferior to cultivated garlic. Ramsons can carpet a deciduous woodland and are usually found alongside celandine's and bluebells. It is a bulbous plant that has white flowers loosely held on a flower head It can grow up to 45cm and flowers from April to August. Picture taken at Maulden Woods 10th May 2008.
