Barnwell Lepers Chapel

This chapel dates from the 12th century and is reputedly the oldest building in Cambridge. It was built originally as the chapel of an isolation hospital for lepers. Keeping lepers away from others was the only treatment. Sometimes the monks that looked after them also contracted the disease.
