Bridge over the Severn links England and Wales
The first Severn Bridge was opened by Queen Elizabeth on September 8th 1966. It replaced the ferry crossing from Aust Cliff to Beachley which had been in service for approximately forty years. It was hoped that this would entice industry into Wales.
