The Ostrich is a large flightless bird native to Africa (and formerly the Middle East). It has a distinctive long neck and legs and the ability to run at speeds of about 46 miles per hour. It is the largest living species of bird and lays the largest egg of any bird species. It eats mainly plant matter and some insects. It groups which contain of between five and 50 birds.
