The wreckage of a Zeppelin which crashed at Great Burstead near Basildon during World War One. Late on 24th September 1916, the German Zeppelin L32 crashed in flames. The Zeppelins had been flying from across the Channel to bomb towns and cities in England. When the news of the end of this cigar-shaped airship spread, people came from as far away as London to see it and to try to get a souvenir.
