The commonest of the British mints, corn mint has flowers in whorls that are spaced out along the stem and do not form a spike. The pink/purple flowers have hairy sepals and stems. ItS leaves are hairy and in pairs. Unlike other mints it gives off an acrid not minty small when crushed. It grows on cultivated land, in damp areas and open woods. It flowers July to October. Picture taken at Felmersham Bedfordshire on 22nd July 2006.
