Winston Churchill visited the Cabinet War Rooms just after he became Prime Minister in May 1940, to see what preparations had been made to ensure he and his War Cabinet could continue working throughout the expected air raids on London. From here he announced 'This is the room from which I will direct the war'. The war rooms also now house the Churchill museum. Picture taken early January 2007.
