There was a large expansion of railways during the Victorian period. This enabled people to travel to the seaside. The Norwich to Great Yarmouth line opened on 4 May 1844. This is the first timetable. Note that there are three classes of travel, and only four trains a day (three on Sundays), in each direction. Passengers had to be at the stations ten minutes before the train was due to arrive.
