James Gillray "Fashion before Ease; - Or, A Good Constitution Sacrificed for a Fantastick Form." 2nd January 1793. Gillrays's anti-republican caricature shows a drunk Thomas Paine with a tape inscribed rights of man hanging from his pocket, with his foot on the back of a pained and defenceless Britannia in a French stay as she clings to an oak tree for stability.
