Irish Psalter, 10-11th century. This picture shows the Crucifixion. The figures above the cross are either the Virgin and St John or two angels. The figure above Christ's head is probably God. The figure to the left of the cross is Stephaton holding up a sponge on a reed. To the right is Longinus holding a spear.
