This plant flowers April to June on water-meadows, low lying grasslands and waysides. Each spikelet has a single floret, with three stamens, one ovary with two stigmas. The spikelets are not bristle tipped although the floret is. Picture taken 6th May 2006 at Felmersham, Bedfordshire.
