The grave of the soldier (Bernard) at Woodlands Military Cementry, who died aged 24 years on the 6/11/42. Taken by Wing Commander Knapp and the air force photography 2/6/46. The cross was later replaced with a stone. Bernard was one of many thousands who died during the far east campaign. This is the only record his family had of his time in Singapore. From the Fall of Singapore in February 1942 untill the Japanese surrender in September 1945, life was a daily struggle against humiliation, loss of freedom, hunger and disease.
