Holly (Ilex aquifolium)
 - Usually a small shrub 3-15 m but holly can grow into a large tree. It has smooth thin bark, glossy green leaves with wavy edges and spines It flowers May - August and the female plants produce bright red fruits in Autumn/Winter. Pictured at Maulden, Bedfordshire early December 2005
