Artists impression of an early Anglo-Saxon village. Anglo-Saxon family groups consisted largely of farmer-warriors. They had little interest in the Roman towns and clustered on newly conquered farmland. Their lives centred on the village and farm. In the hall of the leader they told tales of old warrior heroes. Picture taken at West Stow Anglo-Saxon settlement and Museum August 2006.
