bell shaped and hairy with a white style in the centre. The stem and leaves are also hairy as is the sepal tube. In the middle ages it was used to make a cure for sore throats, the young shoots were also cooked and eaten. The plant flowers from July to September in woodlands and hedgerows on heavy soils. Picture taken at Odell, Bedfordshire 9th Spetember 2006.
