bell shaped and hairy with a white style in the centre. The stem and leaves are also hairy as is the sepal tube. In the middle ages it was used to make a cure for sore throats, the young shoots were also cooked and eaten. The plant flowers from July to September in woodlands and hedgerows on heavy soils.
