spores puff out through an opening in the top. It has a white/cream colour and the young fungus is covered with tiny whitish spines which fall off with age leaving behind a net pattern of scars. It is abundant in confier or broadleaf woods and fruits summer to late autumn. Picture taken October 2006 at Maulden woods, Bedfordshire.
