It has since hosted events from the Proms, rock concerts, conferences, ballroom dancing, poetry recitals, education, ballet, opera and sports events. It has the largest pipe organ in the UK. It was built to accommodate 8,000, even with current safety regulations, it can still seat over 5,500 today. Picture taken 11th January 2006.
