Landguard Point (formerly known as Langer Point) stands to the east of the town of Felixstowe and right next to one of Europe's busiest shipping terminals. Its history as a military and peacetime port goes back many centuries and there are signs of the major part it has played in conflicts all over the point. There are four searchlight emplacements along this stretch of coast.
