to wash their own clothes using the heated pool water. Some prisoners dropped their soap into the geyser and were frightened when it started to foam. They ran away as it erupted but came back and from that time onwards used this as their own 'automatic heated washing machine!' In the photos the guide drops soap into the hole of the geyser and 30 seconds later the foam starts to rise.The chamber of water is being heated underground and the soap breaks the surface tension of the water causing it to erupt.
