The Scavenger's Daughter (also known as the Skeffington's Irons) was the idea of Sir Leonard Skeffinton or Skevington the Lieutenant of the Tower of London in Henry VIII's reign. It was conceived as a complement to the rack because it worked the opposite principle to the rack by compressing the body rather than stretching it. It is not often mentioned in documents and was probably not that often used. One victim was the Irishman Thomas Miagh, charged with being in contact with rebels.
