made of leather with silk embroidery, silver thread and a wooden heel. The green shoe dates from about 1710. It has a leather sole, covered wooden heel and is satin trimmed with a silk braid. At the time the red shoe was made, all shoes were straights i.e. not made for the left or right foot. After 1660 French styles were popular with a long pointed toe like the green shoe.
