A cottony, spiny plant with prickly leaves and a few clustered flowerheads with pink-purple florets. It is found on wasteground, roadsides, grasslands and open woodlands. This picture shows a bumble bee on one of the few remaining flowers. Pictured near Stevington early September 2005.
