In the late 1950's and 1960's the space race and improved knowledge about the universe raised the possibilty of life on other planets and space travel. During this era people first ventured into space. There was also concern about the use of space rockets for carrying nuclear weapons leading to the 'Cold War' and numerous 'conspiracy theories'.
