Large U shaped valeys, carved by glaciers moving out from the pyramidal peaks of the central Arran mountains, now carry misfit streams. These streams meander in order to maintain their channel flow in the moraine clogged valley floor. Carved between two of the highest peaks on the island, Glen Sannox flows east towards the main deep water channel of the firth of Clyde which was carved by the glacier of the main scottish ice cap. Surrounded by pyramidal peaks, aretes and corries of all sizes Glen Sannox was carved by one of the Arran ice caps largest glaciers. This photograph shows many classic features of glaciated landscapes.
