Of the Nightshade family, Bittersweet is also known as Woody Nightshade. With with a distinctive yellow and purple flower, it is very common and grows on scrub, wasteland, in woodlands and hedgerows. It is a quick growing plant which climbs by threading its stems in and out of other plants. This picture was taken at Old Warden Bedfordshire, Mid August 2005.
