This museum houses the most important and representative finds of the Minoan civilization. The figurines of the so-called "Snake-Goddess" are from the Palace of Knossos. Typical features of these religious figurines are the upraised or stretched arms wielding the crawling snakes. They are outstanding specimens of Minoan miniature sculpture and date to the 17th-16th centuries B.C.
