Many years ago the bodies of men and women, or sometimes their cremated remains, were buried under mounds, often with precious goods as a sign of their status and worth. Today archaeologists have learned a great deal about life in the past through excavations and carefully record these details. This burial mound is at Sutton Hoo in Suffolk and has been reconstructed to its original size.
