The results of the drainage schemes which drained the Fens can clearly be seen when you cross the old Bedford River which runs alongside the River Delph in Cambridgeshire. The name of the River Delph may also be a clue to the people who came here in the past and who helped drain the fens. There are several places in Lincolnshire which also include the word Delph.
