The Great Fire swept through the central parts of London. It burned from Sunday, 2 September to Wednesday, 5 September 1666. The medieval City inside the old Roman City Wall was gutted. It destroyed 13,200 houses, 87 churches, St. Paul's Cathedral, and most of the buildings of the City authorities. The fire started at Pudding Lane and ended at Pye Corner.
