The kitchen is set out as in Oliver Cromwell's time but the wing of the house dates back to 1215. The huge fire place dates from the 15th century, when the building was an open hall. All the work of the kitchen centred around the fire that had to be kept burning. For more detail and pictures see food and drink section. Picture taken June 2007.
