This gown of block printed cotton was possible due to technological developments in the spinning and waving of cotton thread, which meant better quality cotton was available for the textile printers to use. The fine material was also better suited to the softer less structured styles that developed at this time. The dress was made in England. The dress can be seen in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
