Elizabeth Conwallis born 1641 married John Risby, later High Sheriff of Suffolk, in 1661. They lived at Thorpe Morieux Hall near Bury St Edmunds. Who painted the portrait is unknown, probably an immigrant Dutch or Flemish artist. Elizabeth Risby is shown here with her son John and two servants. Elizabeth's family had plantations in the West Indies and this page boy may well have been born there.
