The Ice House was the forerunner to the fridge and freezer. This Ice House in Bedfordshire was built in the early 1800's. The Ice House was built between the Kitchens and a walled garden and close to a garden wood. It would have provided a rudimentary means of refrigeration. Picture taken July 2007.
