On 5th August 1620, the Pilgrim Fathers set sail on the Mayflower to America. The colony, established in 1620, was the second successful English settlement, the first being Jamestown, Virginia, which was founded in 1607. The story of the Pilgrim Fathers became important in the history and identity of the USA.
