St Edmund's Abbey History

The Abbey became very important and many historic events took place here. The picture shows a plaque commemorating the names of ther Barons who met at Bury St Edmunds and agreed that King John should be forced to obey the rightful laws and liberties, granted to the church and nobles of England in the charter of Henry 1.
