The Upper Library was built between 1623 and 1628 mainly thanks to a donation of money from John Williams, Bishop of Lincoln. Since then more books have filled up the shelves and a few other things have changed too. What do you think is original and what do you think was added later?
The Old Library does not just house books but personal papers and objects as well, like the lead filling from the skull of a lead-filled skeleton found at Newport Pagnell in 1619.
